The Perfect Day – Social Activity at LEF2010

Perhaps the most important day of LEF2010. This day is focusing the basics of the international LEO movement.

Workshops

The day will start with different kinds of workshops where Leadership, Experience, and Opportunity will be highlighted. Qualities which characterize a LEO and by the help of these we can improve ourselves and perhaps our world too. We will learn useful tools from experienced trainers, and expertees.

Support the Saint Francis Foundation of Deva

The day will focus mainly to support the Saint Francis Foundation of Deva. The foundation was established in 2002, primarily to support the child protecting agencies, schools and daycare centers run by the Franciscans of Transylvania. Frater Csaba and his colleagues intend to render help to disadvantaged children in their daily needs, schooling, choosing a profession, learning a trade and finding or providing jobs for them.
Following the true LEO spirit LEF participants will make wonderful presents to cheer up the Christmas for these children.
Our support for the Transylvanian children is also symbolic. For a common goal this way we would like to connect or unite if you like three countries, Austria, Hungary, and Romania as well as LEF2010 and LEF2011!

Charity concert

What else can be the perfect ending of the Perfect Day than a wonderful concert at the magnificent concert hall of the Fertőrákos Cave Theatre. We intend to bring world famous performers for this charity concert to present an unforgettable evening for the LEF participants and for our guests and also to raise some money for the Saint Francis Foundation of Deva.

Trip to Salonta (Nagyszalonta)

In order to emphasize the importance of the social activity at LEF2010 and to meet our supported children, the Orgateam of LEF2010 decided to visit one of the orphanages run by the Saint Francis Foundation. Our visit in October 2009 to Salonta (Nagyszalonta), a little town in Romania, close to the Hungarian border, was a great experience for all of us. The Orgateam was very glad and thankful for the Romanian Leos from Timisoara who were also with us on this weekend.

We had the opportunity to meet the children, stay with them for a day and see how they live, what they do. We also could talk with their foster-fathers and mothers. We even helped to cook the dinner! :-)

We realized that although the fosters take good care of the children they still need lot of support in order to make this foster home more comfortable. We talked about what the children really need and agreed that we will do our best to provide these things after LEF2010. They are especially in need of basic sanitation products, school products (such as pencil, pen, booklets etc.), and basic durable foodstuff (such as canned vegetables, meet, chocolate etc.) and of course toys for the children are always welcome. They would like to restore on of the old buildings at the orphanage to house more children, so financial support is also a possibility.

Now it is up to the Orgateam and the participants of LEF2010 to make the life of these children happier. Let us all help to fulfill their needs and dreams! Let us show the true Leo spirit and unite Leos from Europe and all around the world for a really good cause!
