A day trip to the Austrian capital as one of the cultural highlights of LEF 2010
LEOs from all over the world are united at the LEO EUROPA FORUM. The participants will have the opportunity to live the LEO spirit for one week, while the hosts will be able to proudly present their countries, their districts and their LEO/LIONS movement.
Vienna is the perfect destination for this trip because of its geographical proximity as well as the common history, the cultural diversity and the plentiful sights. The participants will be able to view Vienna from several different points of view: The musical, artistic, historic or modern Vienna – truly a cosmopolitan city which can offer something for every taste.
The program
09:00 … departure from Sopron
We will use the 2 hours on the bus to give some short general information about Vienna to the participants. They will receive material from the Tourist Information Office and self-written handouts.
11:00 … arrival at the Burgtheater, Vienna
The sightseeing starts with a sightseeing trip at Vienna Ringstraße, the most beautiful boulevard of the city with the biggest highlights.
11:00 – 12:00 … speech by city officials / LIONS representatives
This part of the day will be used to give a warm welcome to our guests in the Austrian capital and to introduce them to the capitol of Austria.
12:00 – 17:30 … lunch, sightseeing
- The modern Vienna: Uno City/IAEA
- The historic Vienna: First municipality district, historic city center
- The classy Vienna: Shopping tour (Kohlmarkt, Graben, Kärntner Straße, Naschmarkt)
- The artistic Vienna: Various museums (Museumsquartier, Belvedere, MUMOK)
- The musical Vienna: Haus der Musik, …
- The Vienna of Empress Elisabeth: Schönbrunn Palace and park
The participants will split up in groups of roughly 50 and choose one of the themes. After the initial tour is over they will continue through the city center into a traditional Viennese café.
18:00 … Return trip to Sopron
As with arrival our meeting point will again be the Burgtheater. After arriving to the hotel, an Austrian-Hungarian themed evening will conclude the program of the day.
